Product Description |

Do you still have some classic vinyl? Would you like to transfer those albums to a PC...Walkman…or even an iPod? Well now you can bring those albums into the Digital World with the PSLX300USB USB Turntable from Sony. Using the USB connection, you can import all that music into your computer and create MP3 files to store on a PC or bring along with you on your favorite Portable player. The supplied Audio Studio Software makes it easy for anyone to archive their music from vinyl, optimize the sound, and store them as files on your PC. The PS-LX300USB USB Turntable is also a full functional turntable that can connect to your current system and playback your vinyl albums using the internal amplifier for systems that may not have a “phono” input. |

Waste of money |
|
I bought this turntable at a big box store a few months ago. It took a little getting used to as the directions are not great. I have not been able to get the software to correctly identify the separate tracks from albums, so it involves a lot of manual work to separate the individual songs. Then I realized when I played the songs back on my iPod that the digital file did not reproduce the stereo quality correctly so one channel is muffled. This is really annoying, and consequently the turntable is useless for what I wanted to do (i.e., copy my albums to digital). Basically this thing was a waste of $150! |

Do not buy from Wholesale AV! |
|
Do not buy from Wholesale AV. The company shipped me a broken unit and it took weeks of them giving me the run around to get a return number in order to ship it back. They do not follow through with what they are going to do and their only plan on customer support is to contact the manufacturer. All and all very poor, disappointing service, especially when you take into account they shipped a broken unit to a customer and then refuse to expedite service and take care of that customer. Truly an awful company - BUYER BEWARE! |

Very nice turntable! |
|
I have been very impressed with this turntable. I have had it for almost two years now, and it has played flawlessly. It has very good sound, much better than any cd player I have heard. I have it hooked up to a respectable stereo system, and the output is beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to play records with a high sound quality. If you are a hardcore audiophile, you will want to get the five thousand dollar system, but if you're like me, and just wanted to listen to your music the way it was intended with a natural sound that is not digitally processed, then this is the player for you. |

Turntable A+ but software needs better documentation |
|
The turntable worked great right out of the box. I'm using the USB connection via Windows 7, and the OS installed the hardware instantly. The included software installed fine, but then told me I needed to update to latest version. Upon doing so, I was told my PC had an old version of C++ distributable; it took me a bit of time to stop everything and install that version. Subsequently, the installation worked fine. I purchased this product to copy old vinyl record albums to my computer, and to make CD's of them. The aforementioned software worked great when using the "automatic" feature for vinyl recording. However, the documentation/instructions for the software is totally inadequate for non-techies. Maybe even for techies, of which I'm one. The record track recognition does not work, so the operator has to manually break out the tracks. There is no instruction provided for doing this, which requires several non-standard procedures/commands. I did it the hard way until I found a tiny help statement on-line in the Sony software site. Then, the process became easy and I'm 100% satisfied with both the turntable and the software. Sony should have a local tester re-document the product and software. By the way, the resulting recordings are superb! The CD's sound almost as perfect as their professional counterparts, and they were originals made back in 1960-1965, like Frank Sinatra "Come Swing With Me" and "Can Can", etc. I was also able to find the record covers and track titles on-line for my music library. Overall, I couldn't ask for anything more. |

Great turntable except for the software |
|
Did not order this from Vinylrecordsandhomeaudio but the vendor I ordered it from does not have on-line reviews, so I am reviewing it here. I purchased it for $89.00 and at that sale price, it was well worth the money. The hitch, as others have said, is the really substandard software that comes with the unit. I recall having read about other USB turntables that don't even include software -- they just direct the user to download the free recording software Audacity. This is what Sony should have done with this unit. I installed the provided software -- monkeyed around with the terribly written instructions -- used the non-intuitive software -- then opened Audacity and it recorded with no problems. Audacity does take some effort to get the speakers to play back in real time as you're recording -- I found the following suggestion on an Audacity forum that was very helpful to me: "Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O > Recording > those check boxes down there at the bottom. Each computer is slightly different so you have to try different combinations. It's useful to restart Audacity after you change one of those settings." I did this and once that was accomplished, I uninstalled the Sony software and will never use it again. Those new to Audacity will still have a learning curve -- you have to install the LAME encoder to convert to MP3. But it's extremely easy to use once you get through the learning phase. The turntable is just fine -- interface works well and the unit is easy to operate. And as others have mentioned, the recordings sound very impressive. I was very pleased with the results. Some of my recordings have scratches and pops but that makes me nostalgic for the old days when I would just wear out certain vinyl records that I loved. :) My only regret is that I didn't order this sooner. Now I'll be shopping at thrift stores again for old vinyl. Great way to save money and digitize your beloved recordings. |
