Ready for the future, the AVR-1909 is equipped with the latest high resolution surround sound format decoding capabilities, including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS-HD Master Audio – the latest high resolution audio formats found on many Blu-ray high definition discs. The powerful seven channel amplifier section can be configured for 7.1 channel surround sound, as well as being able to drive a 5.1 channel system in the main room along with powered stereo speaker outputs for second zone audio. The video section features extensive video source switching and up-conversion capability, and is equipped with three latest specification v1.3a HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, with up to 1080p resolution. In addition, the AVR-1909 features Faroudja DCDi video processing and up-conversion, breathing new life into standard definition sources, along with three HD component video inputs and one HD component video output. Setup is a snap, thanks to the icon-based on screen display, and the Audyssey MultEQ acoustic correction and optimization system custom-tailors the sound for optimum tonal balance throughout the listening space. To eliminate irritating swings in volume between TV shows and commercials, the AVR-1909 is one of the first to offer Audyssey Dynamic Volume automatic volume-leveling system, as well as Audyssey Dynamic EQ to ensure rich bass and smooth tonal balance, even at low volume levels. |

Every now and then the picture and sound just go off, for about a second. Its been going on ever since I got this product.
I have called customer service several times. I would give some of their customer service agents a 0 star and some 2 star and one a 3 star. Issue has not really been resolved. Perhaps I need to work harder to get this fixed or perhaps I should buy another receiver.
Also denon offers another model (without the Dj or whatever feature) for $50 less. I should have gotten that model. I feel Denon should make it clearer what the difference is between these models so consumers don't assume that this model is better just beacause of the price. |

GREAT STEREO, DIFFICULT SETUP |

THIS IS MY SECOND DENON RECEIVER. IT IS AN ABSOLUTELY AWESOME SOUNDING AND FEATURED UNIT. IT DOES NOT OVERHEAT, OR HAVE HDMI CONNECT PROBS REPORTED ON COMPETING UNITS. HOWEVER, THE SETUP IS A ROYAL P.I.T.A. MANUAL NOT CLEAR ENOUGH TO HELP, NOT VERY INTUITIVE. PREVIOUS DENON EXPERIENCE HELPED ME BUMBLE THROUGH IT, WORTH THE TRIP BECAUSE THIS UNIT PAIRED WITH INFINITY SPEAKERS IS AWESOME IN SURROUND FOR MOVIES AND ON STEREO FOR FM OR CDs. |

I ordered this receiver in the first week of January. It did not work and after talking to tech support, they advise that it be returned. The supplier, Electronics Expo, received the receiver back on 1/29/10. I have left one voice mail and sent two emails asking them when they would resend a good machine. I have had no reply. This service is miserable!!!! |

Great Product, do not let set-up scare you away. |
The nuts-n-bolts of this product have already been adequately covered. Denon is guilty as charged for having Tech. Writers imported from the planet Valtar, but there is a work around that will solve all your issues with installation.

Batpig saved my bacon (so to speak) and turned a expletive filled afternoon of frustration into an easy hour of peaceful resolution. Go to Batpig, download the appropriate information and your off to the races.
This AVR 1909 is worth the extra measures required to "dial-in" so take a shot chase it with two beers and follow Batpig's instruction and in no time you will be dodging canon balls wizzing thru your living room from the masterpiece sound-check standard......Master and Commander.

Acoustic Audio HD515 In Wall Ceiling 5.1 Home Theater Stereo Speakers.
Dayton SA70 70W Subwoofer Amplifier.
DLO Home Deluxe Ipod Dock. (Not that happy with it, it has some software hangups).
Logiteck 1100 remote control. (See my report on this remote)
Any HD TV with HDMI input.
Any DVD/CD player with a HDMI output.
Use any 12awg or 14awg wire to connect the speakers.
The setup despite the reviews I have read is a breeze.
